The Pittsburgh Steelers are still viewed as a playoff contender in 2025, despite the team losing George Pickens, Russell Wilson, and Justin Fields. Aaron Rodgers was brought in, and could spark the team to a postseason berth.

On top of bringing in Rodgers, the Steelers have also signed DK Metcalf, Jonnu Smith, Jalen Ramsey, and more. On paper, the team looks like they can make some noise in the AFC.
That said, the Steelers are not done making moves, and the organization has made a massive roster decision right before the start of the regular season.

Per multiple reports, the Steelers have extended running back Jaylen Warren. The details of the extension have yet to be made public, but the deal is for two years.
Warren has become one of the most popular and important pieces of this Steelers offense. The dual-threat running back has been solid in production from a running back and pass-catcher standpoint.

Warren secured 511 yards and one touchdown on the ground, along with 310 receiving yards.
After losing Najee Harris to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Steelers are likely expecting Warren to step into the three-down role for the team. Should Warren evolve even more in 2025, he might be a surprise offensive stud.
The Steelers will need a strong ground game to compete with the rest of the AFC, and to balance out the passing game that may or may not struggle. Despite having Rodgers at the helm, the team has Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson as the main pass catchers.
This group is not the worst in the league by any stretch, but they are also not the strongest. The Steelers did bring in Smith to help on the front, but Rodgers might struggle with this group.
The good news is Warren can help open the pass game up with his strong running and serve as an additional catching threat. Warren is also young and continues to show layers to his game, which has led to a much-deserved extension.
