Carson Beck entered the 2024 season as a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy and a possible option to be drafted No. 1 overall out of Georgia.
And while Beck had a decent year, throwing threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while going 10-2 as UGA’s starter, he struggled throughout the season and there were growing calls from the Bulldogs’ fan base to bench him toward the end of the year in favor of backup Gunner Stockton as Georgia fell out of the top 10 in mid-November following a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss.

Beck missed Georgia’s College Football Playoff run after suffering a torn LCL in the SEC Championship Game, and he transferred to Miami in offseason when some were pushing for Stockton to take his spot as QB1.
The Hurricanes paid up to land Beck in the transfer portal, giving him a $4 million NIL deal, and he delivered a memorable performance in his first start in No. 10 Miami’s 27-24 upset of No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday.

The 23-year-old QB completed 20 of 31 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions, and he led Miami on a 10-play, 46-yard scoring drive in the final 3:21 of the fourth quarter to seal the win after the Fighting Irish tied it up on the previous drive.
Beck’s stat line seemingly impressed the Vegas sportsbooks enough for him to make a big jump in the Heisman Trophy odds, as Beck is currently ranked third for the award with +1100 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
The senior signal-caller had +2200 odds just a few days ago, but now he trails only LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier (+800) and South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers (+1000). Stockton, Beck’s replacement at Georgia, is fourth with +1200 odds, and Clemson QB Cade Klubnik is fifth with +1400 odds.
