Inter Milan has won its last six meetings with Udinese and hosts the Little Zebras on Sunday, hoping to extend that run in Week 2 of the new Serie A season. And all the signs suggest that’s plausible for the home side after a 5-0 thrashing of Torino in its curtain-raiser.
Former Parma boss Cristian Chivu made his Serie A debut in the San Siro dugout with that confident win, positing good omens for what’s to come under the Romanian. It was 15 years ago that Chivu won a historic treble in Inter’s defense, but he now appears to have found success turning his old side into an offensive beast.
Udinese was disappointed to draw 1-1 at home to Verona after taking the lead last time out. The eastern Italian outfit hasn’t managed a win over Inter since September 2022 and faces a battle against the odds to end that drought on Sunday.
Ange-Yoan Bonny reunited with ex-Parma chief Chivu over the summer and will look to impress against his old side after scoring five minutes into his Inter debut last week. Marcus Thuram is also enjoying himself under Chivu’s system after netting twice in the win over Torino, quickly moving to the top of Serie A’s scoring charts.
