Crystal Palace travels to Birmingham on Sunday, hoping to extend a superlative run of results against Aston Villa as two winless Premier League teams collide. The Eagles have flocked to an impressive record of four wins from their last five games against Unai Emery’s side and haven’t lost this fixture in almost two years.
Oliver Glasner was responsible for ousting Villa from the FA Cup semi-finals back in April en route to claiming the crown at Wembley. And while Palace is yet to win this season, the south Londoners also haven’t been beaten to date despite two tough outings away to Chelsea and at home to Nottingham Forest.
The same can’t be said for Villa following a 1-0 defeat on the road to Brentford last weekend, which has left the Birmingham outfit stranded in 17th place. And after a sensational run of three successive top-seven finishes, Emery could soon find himself under unfamiliar pressure if his side fails to bag three points at home on Sunday.
Midfield anchor Boubacar Kamara won’t be available for the visit of Palace after suffering a hamstring injury in the loss to Brentford. However, Emery will be pleased to have Ezri Konsa back in defense after he served a one-game suspension.
