It was a fairly sleepy weekend at the international box office as summer draws to a close in many of the majors. Still, there were some strong holds out there and one big new milestone.

Marvel/Disney’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps crossed the five-century mark globally, reaching $505.1M in the 6th frame. The offshore cume is $240.5M after adding $4.4M this weekend. That was just a 29% drop from last session, with significant holds in key majors including Brazil (+35%/No. 1 again), UK (-1%), France (-24%), Mexico (-33%), Spain (-36%), Australia (-37%) and Netherlands (-38%).

F4:FS remains the highest grossing superhero release of 2025 across the Latin American region as well as Italy and Thailand. It’s the No. 8 studio movie of the year both internationally and worldwide.

The Top 5 overseas for the family are: UK ($31M), Mexico ($28.2M), France ($16.2M), Brazil ($14.4M) and Australia ($11.4M).

New movies this session included Searchlight’s The Roses with $9.2M in 40 overseas markets ($17.2M global including the estimated 4-day domestic opening). The comedy update was No. 1 in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands and a handful of other markets.

Opening in about 89% of the international footprint, the start is comping ahead of Game Night in like-for-likes at today’s rates. In the Netherlands, the Olivia Colman/Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer posted the biggest opening weekend ever for Searchlight (excluding previews).

The Top 5 starts are: UK ($3M), Germany ($800K), France ($800K), Netherlands ($700K) and Italy ($600K).

Key markets still to release include Australia, Korea and Japan.

Holdover play for the studios was led by Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys 2 which added another six markets, including Germany. In total, 75 offshore markets rustled up $12.5M for a $103.5M international cume and $176.5M global so far. The overseas drop was a mere 19% while the sequel is running above the original, excluding China.

At present, the Top 5 markets are: China ($23.3M), UK ($15.9M), France ($10.5M), Spain ($7.2M) and Mexico ($6M).

Australia releases later this month.

New Line/Warner Bros’ Weapons put another $9.4M in the arsenal from 74 offshore markets, taking the overseas cume to $100M and global to $234.6M. The drop internationally was 30% with notable holds in some key markets including Brazil (-1%), France (-13%), Spain (-23%), Italy (-24%), Germany (-25%), UK (-26%) and Netherlands (-29%).

The Top 5 through Sunday are: UK ($13.9M), Mexico ($8.6M), France ($7.6M), Spain ($7M) and Australia ($5.9M).

Elsewhere, and before it debuts domestically in a little under two weeks, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle continued its Southeast Asia run via Sony/Crunchyroll, lifting the cume to $42M from nine markets after a $4.3M third weekend. The anime hit is now bigger than Incredibles 2, Ne Zha 2, Toy Story 4, Moana 2 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie across like markets. Among those are Hong Kong ($9.4M), Indonesia ($6.9M), Thailand ($6.5M), Malaysia ($5.9M), Philippines ($5.8M), and Vietnam ($4.4M).

In total, including non-Sony markets, comScore has the international weekend at $20.4M while the global cume on the Toho/Ufotable movie has surpassed $250M. Releases are still to come in North America, Brazil, Australia, Mexico, UK, Spain, France and Germany.
