A 53-year-old tourist died after passing out on a popular ride at the Disneyland in Hong Kong, according to reports.

The 53-year-old Filipino man slipped into a coma while riding the Frozen Ever After ride at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort around 10 a.m. Friday – and died less than two hours later, the South China Morning Post reported.

The man’s wife immediately alerted staff aboard the slow-moving ride, which is part of the park’s World of Frozen attraction, according to the outlet.

She told emergency personnel her husband suffered from hypertension and other heart-related issues, as first responders performed CPR.

The man was rushed to North Lantau Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m.

Hong Kong Disneyland later issued a statement saying that the guest’s death was “not related to ride safety,” the outlet reported.

“The resort deeply regrets the passing of the guest and will do its utmost to provide necessary assistance to his family,” a spokesperson told SCMP.

“Our initial investigation has shown the incident is not related to ride safety.”

The Philippine Consulate-General in Hong Kong reportedly confirmed the incident Friday, and said it was coordinating with local authorities to help the man’s family repatriate his body.

Disneyland officials did not immediately respond to inquiries.
