This is the first game of the season for both of these teams. VMI, which plays in the Southern Conference in the FCS, went just 1-11 last year and was 1-7 in conference play, while Navy went 10-3 and was 6-2 in the American.
Navy made a major jump in 2024, winning double-digit games and finishing over .500 for the first time since 2019. The team will look for an even better result in 2025, though getting past a strong Tulane team for the conference title will be rough.
VMI was solid in head coach Danny Rocco’s debut in 2023, going 5-6 overall, but everything fell apart in 2024, with the team winning just a single game. Can the Keydets find a way out of the SoCon cellar?
