Tyreek Hill spent the offseason in limbo with the Miami Dolphins. After comments made following their Week 18 game against the New York Jets last season, it seemed as though Hill’s time in South Beach was coming to an end.
But the regular season is kicking off in just over a week, and Hill is still there, but not without concern. He was battling an oblique injury during training camp.
Hill is one of the biggest cogs in the Dolphins’ offense, and it will not serve them well to be without him at any point during the season. Hill has missed some time, but according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, head coach Mike McDaniel said that everything “looks great” with Hill’s availability for week one.
With the Dolphins coming off a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time in McDaniel’s tenure as head coach, the team is one of the most intriguing in the league. Internal expectations reportedly have the Dolphins returning to the playoffs, but if things go south, they could be blowing it up between firings and trades.
With the season dependent on the offense’s production, the Dolphins cannot risk Hill being unavailable for an extended period of time, which is likely why they were careful with pushing their superstar wide receiver too quickly in training camp.
The Dolphins kick off their season against the Indianapolis Colts, and will be the first real look at the offense with their new pieces all together. Miami has a lot to prove, and Hill is expected to return to form after a frustrating season if the Dolphins were to make a push for the playoffs.
