Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has drawn a lot of attention in recent years over his practice of painting his fingernails.
Some fans love it, but others don’t. Regardless of what anyone thinks, Williams is not going to change his ways. He’s very confident in what he does and he spoke out about that confidence recently.
During a recent interview, Williams spoke out about why he stopped painting his nails during his rookie NFL season. He also made it clear that he has picked it back up heading into his second professional campaign.
“It was hard to do,” Williams said. “We were losing, and days were long trying to figure out how to get things back on track. I think also part of it was the rookie year. It got a little tiring at the end.”

He continued on, making a strong statement about his plans to continue painting his nails this season.
“Part of it’s just me being myself and just [being] unapologetic about it,” Williams said. “And you know, I’m not going to apologize about it. I’m gonna be me. It doesn’t bother me what people have to say about me because I know what I am. I know who I am and what I like to do.”
Williams enters his second NFL season facing a lot of questions. Can he break out and prove that he can be the Bears’ long-term franchise quarterback?
After an offseason full of reported struggles, he will need to provide answers on the field during the regular season. Ben Johnson, the team’s new head coach, has spoken very highly of his backup, Tyson Bagent.
Not long ago, it was suggested that Williams could be facing a short leash this season. While that may not be accurate, it’s something to keep an eye on.

As a rookie, Williams completed 62.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 17 games. He also ran for 489 yards.
There is no denying the talent and potential that the 23-year-old quarterback possesses. Perhaps getting back to painting his nails will translate to even more success on the field.
Only time will tell, but Williams is facing a lot of pressure this season. Hopefully, he’s able to rise to the occasion and silence all of his doubters.
