Acqua di Parma’s new “Gelsomino a Freddo” joins the Signatures of the Sun collection as a vibrant, bold eau de parfum born from the ancient art of cold enfleurage. Over successive 48-hour cycles, freshly harvested jasmine blossoms are gently pressed onto purified shea butter, allowing master perfumers to preserve every delicate olfactive molecule. This labor-intensive process is reflected in the fragrance’s name, “a Freddo” (which translates to “cold”), ensuring a richly nuanced jasmine essence that balances time-honored heritage with modern craftsmanship.
The fragrance opens on a zesty accord of Italian lemon, pink pepper and artemisia before unveiling a heart of pure jasmine enfleurage, smoky black tea and orris concrete. Its base of guaiac wood, cypriol and patchouli essence then imparts warmth and structure, forging an unexpected dialogue between luminous floral brightness and smouldering undertones. “Creating this fragrance presented a double challenge,” explains perfumer Daphne Bugey, “first in balancing these contrasting elements while elevating the jasmine enfleurage extraction,” and second in “finding the middle ground between the floral and woody elements of the composition” to achieve a truly gender-neutral scent.
Encased in Acqua di Parma’s redesigned transparent Signatures of the Sun bottle, the perfume features an enlarged hatbox and refreshed label. Complementing the eau de parfum are new Signatures of the Sun rituals: Zafferano Hand and Body Wash, Body Cream, 200-gram candles and a 180 ml diffuser. These additions, alongside “Gelsomino a Freddo,” will soon be available through Acqua di Parma.
