A person died after a house went up in flames in Pasadena early Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Preliminary information on the incident was initially limited. It was verified by the Verdugo Fire Communications Center that crews were called out to the 1500 block of Lancashire Place just after 6:20 a.m.
Officials with the Pasadena Fire Department confirmed to KTLA at 8 a.m. that, when firefighters got to the scene, they found a house that was “well-involved” with flames, indicating it had been burning for some time.
“Upon aggressive search and extinguishment, we did unfortunately locate a deceased individual,” Pasadena Fire Department Deputy Chief Anthony James said.
The identity of that person was not immediately known. It was also unclear whether anyone else was inside the home at the time.
Crews have the area surrounding Lancashire Place, a dead end street located off Lida Street in the North Arroyo neighborhood, blocked off as the scene is cleared and the investigation begins. Anyone who has to travel through the area is advised to seek an alternate route.
There was no word on what started the fire, but Deputy Chief James noted that, since temperatures in the area will rise on Saturday, residents should be mindful of their activities and anything that could cause a fire.
