The Green Bay Packers pulled off one of the biggest blockbuster trades in recent NFL history on Thursday afternoon, acquiring superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
Parsons has been one of the best defensive players in the league over the last four years. Simply acquiring him makes the Packers a much more likely Super Bowl contender.
Not only did Green Bay acquire Parsons, the team also gave him a massive four-year, $188 million contract extension. He’ll be a cornerstone for the Packers for many years to come.
Over the last week, rumors had grown very loud about Green Bay being a possible trade destination for Parsons. Those rumors were clearly accurate.

A major new update with more details about the deal was revealed by NFL insider Tom Pelissero on Friday morning. He revealed that the two teams had agreed to the framework of the trade “several days ago.”
All that was left to finalize the trade was for Parsons and the Packers to work out the details of his new contract. Obviously, the two sides were able to make that happen.
Throughout his first four years in the NFL, Parsons has posted ridiculous numbers. The 26-year-old superstar has played in 63 career games, racking up 256 total tackles to go along with 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and nine defended passes.
Very few defensive players around the league are able to make that kind of impact.
One of the main weaknesses Green Bay still had heading into the season was its pass rushing. Parsons will fix that issue immediately. He will now join a room that still includes Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Edgerrin Cooper, and quite a few more talented edge rushers.

This is also clearly the biggest trade the Packers have ever pulled off. The move to acquire Brett Favre from the Atlanta Falcons had sat atop that list. Parsons is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, which moves him to the top.
Green Bay is set to face off against the NFC North rival Detroit Lions in Week 1. Fans cannot wait to get their first look at Parsons on the Packers in just over a week.
