UNLV defeated Idaho State 38-31 last Saturday in the team’s season opener, shaking off a 10-0 first-quarter deficit and charging back for the win. Running back Jai’Den Thomas was the hero of the game for the Rebels, running the ball 10 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Anthony Colandrea had 195 passing yards and a score, plus added 93 yards on the ground.
Sam Houston opened the season on the road against Western Kentucky, losing 41-24. Quarterback Hunter Watson was 19-for-30 for 209 yards with an interception. He also ran for 91 yards and a score.
