Auburn enters the season after a disappointing five-win season, looking to reclaim its rank amongst the top teams in the SEC. Maybe Hugh Freeze can unlock something now in year three at the helm, but if Auburn can not find a way to get to at least .500 this season, they might be looking to move on.
Baylor was the better team last year, finishing the season 8-5, and much improved from their 3-9 2023 season. Still, the Bears have something to prove in this matchup if they want to be viewed as a serious contender. They will have their eye set on the College Football Playoff, but starting the season off 0-1 might essentially eliminate them from significant contention earlier than expected.
