While the NBA offseason has mainly reached a standstill, teams are continuing to fiddle with their rosters ahead of training camp.

The Miami Heat appear to be one team not quite sure about its roster entering the new season. The Heat have had a quiet yet solid offseason, adding Norman Powell while bringing back Davion Mitchell and moving on from Duncan Robinson.
However, after trading Jimmy Butler last season, the Heat lack a roster that can truly contend for an NBA championship this offseason. Thus, they’re reportedly looking to move off of one of their high-priced veterans.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Heat are trying to move on from veteran guard Terry Rozier. While they’d love to trade the 31-year-old, there’s a lack of interest in him, per Fischer.
“Sources say Miami still hopes to part with veteran guard Terry Rozier even though there is said to be scant trade interest in the 31-year-old,” Fischer wrote.”
Rozier is in the final season of his four-year, $96.3 million deal, set to earn $26.6 million this season.
If Miami can’t find a trade partner for him, Fischer reports they could buy him out.

“Rozier is scheduled to make $26.6 million this season and the Heat are said to have some interest in buying him out,” Fischer wrote. “To be clear, though, no buyout appears imminent.”
Rozier is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he appeared in 64 games, averaging just 10.6 points per contest, his lowest output in a season since 2018-19. Rozier shot just 39.1 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from deep in a down season across the board.
Rozier’s career began back in 2015 with the Boston Celtics, and he was there until 2019, when he joined the Charlotte Hornets. Across his 10-year career, Rozier has averaged 13.9 points, 3.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Rozier averaged at least 18 points per game in every season from 2019-23. He averaged a career-high 21.1 points per game in 2022-23 with the Hornets.
Whether or not Rozier can get back to being that player remains to be seen. However, it likely won’t be with Miami, as they look to find him a new home sooner rather than later.
