Jaden Rashada has been quite the journeyman in his college career. Originally committing to the Miami Hurricanes in June 2022 before flipping to Florida months later, the former four-star has yet to see any meaningful playing time.
That seems about to change, with Rashada reportedly named the starting quarterback for Sacramento State, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
At this point, it’s hard to keep track of how many schools Rashada has committed to.
After he was set to enroll at the University of Florida, Rashada requested a release from his National Letter of Intent. He claimed that a $13.85 million NIL deal with the Gator Collective fell through, which ultimately led to a legal battle between the two parties.
In January 2023, Rashada enrolled at Arizona State, the first official team he suited up for. He was named the starter to open the season but played in just three games, passing for 485 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions while completing only 53.7% of his passes.

Rashada entered the transfer portal again in April of last year, hoping to land an opportunity back in the SEC with Georgia, though he never saw the field, sitting behind Carson Beck and Gunner Stockton. He then jumped back into the portal this past winter at a three-star transfer, eventually transferring to FCS program Sacramento State on April 25, according to 247Sports.
It’s hard to say if this will be Rashada’s final landing spot. If he plays well, he could easily be enticed to transfer once again, likely back to an FBS program — and perhaps even a Power Four team.
The Hornets are coming off one of their worst season since 2018, with a 3-9 finish. Perhaps Rashada can be the spark they need for a bounce back season.
