The UK’s “biggest independent post production group” has been formed as Envy Group acquires Halo Group.
Deal terms were not disclosed but the pair claimed the move forms “the UK’s largest privately owned post production group.”
The deal comes at a rocky time for UK VFX, with layoffs across the board and closures at Technicolor’s The Mill, Jellyfish and most recently Glassworks VFX.
Envy’s recent credits include the likes of the upcoming Walking with Dinosaurs for the BBC and Netflix’s Building the Band. Halo has worked on Netflix’s Alexander: The Making of a God and Disney’s Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.
The move brings together Envy, Capture, Absolute, and Blind Pig with Halo labels Evolutions, and Relay, labels that remain active for the time being. Halo co-founders John Rogerson and Alan Jones move into senior leadership roles within the new group as well as some of the management team. No word yet on whether there will be job losses.
