Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has become one of the most popular players in the NFL. His relationship and now engagement with Taylor Swift and his podcast have put him very much on the map. Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has also become one of the most talked about players.

While there isn’t much in common to talk about between Kelce and Sanders, the superstar tight end used his podcast to speak out about Sanders.

Amid the drama about the Browns’ quarterback situation and Sanders being named the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart, Kelce spoke out and sent a very strong message to the team about their young signal caller.

During a segment on his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce made it clear that he thinks Cleveland should give Sanders a much bigger opportunity to play.

“Give the people what they want… The world wants to see him go out there and not only play, but succeed. At this point, guys are rooting for him,” Kelce said. “This isn’t anything against Dillon; this isn’t anything against Joe. I’m just saying the excitement is there for him to go out and play. He’s going to put eyes on the screen. He’s going to bring people to the game. It is what it is, man. I would love to (expletive) see him.”

Kelce’s point makes sense. Fans have been clamoring for Sanders to get on the field and the Browns would sell a lot of tickets if they played him. However, the team does not believe that Sanders gives them the best opportunity to win.

Sanders looked solid during the preseason, completing 17 of his 29 pass attempts for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.

It will be interesting to see what Cleveland ends up doing at quarterback throughout the 2025 season. Sanders might see playing time, but he’s behind both Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel. He’s facing an uphill battle to playing time in his rookie year.

Many fans will agree with Kelce’s take. They may not get what they want this season, but the calls to play Sanders will only get louder moving forward.

Expect to continue hearing a lot of speculation and conversation regarding Sanders as the season gets underway. The Browns don’t view Sanders as being ready to play right now, but things can change quickly in the NFL.
