Approximately 20 people were injured or killed in a mass shooting at a Catholic church in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning, according to reports from local media.
Sources told KSNI that two people were killed and three are in critical condition after a “mass casualty event” at the Annunciation Church in the city’s south.
The church’s website says that a PreK-8 school operates on its premises. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat who was once the mayor of Minneapolis, noted that the shooting took place during the first week of the new school year for the city.
“I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information,” he said. “The BCA and State Patrol are on scene. I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
The FBI and ATF announced they were responding to the scene of the shooting.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
