‘Going Dutch’: Hilary Winston Joins Fox Comedy Series As Co-Showrunner For Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Fox is adding seasoned comedy writer-producer Hilary Winston to Going Dutch. Winston has joined the upcoming second season of the Fox single-camera comedy starring Denis Leary as co-showrunner alongside the series’ creator and Season 1 showrunner Joel Church-Cooper who previously developed the IFC series Brockmire.

Winston, Church-Cooper, Denis Leary and Jack Leary executive produce Going Dutch, which began production on its sophomore season this week. The series, wholly owned by Fox, is set ti return in midseason.

Going Dutch centers on the arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel Patrick Quinn (Denis Leary), who — after an epically unfiltered rant — is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least strategic army base in the world, notable for its Michelin Star-commissary, top-notch bowling alley, lavender-infused laundry and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Armed Forces. Surrounded by a diverse group of military misfits, the colonel tries to reinstate discipline and professionalism with the help of the base’s previous interim leader, who just happens to be his estranged daughter, Captain Maggie Quinn (Taylor Misiak).

In addition to Leary and Misiak, the series stars Danny Pudi, Laci Mosley and Hal Cumpston. Joe Morton and Catherine Tate recur.

Comedies take longer to find an audience. Fox is clearly aiming at some Season 2 growth after Going Dutch, produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and is distributed by Fox Entertainment Global, saw its numbers slide throughout its 10-episode first season.

Winston most recently was executive producer/showrunner on Goosebumps for its two-season run on Disney+. Her writing-producing credits also include Community, Happy Endings, My Name is Earl and well as CBS’ Bad Teacher, which she developed. She recently wrote for another Fox-owned comedy series, the animated Krapopolis. Her feature writing credits include The Lego Ninjago Movie and The Bad Guys. Winston is repped by UTA, Rise Management and Yorn Levine Barnes.
