‘The Paper’s Sabrina Impacciatore Says ‘The Office’ Stars Steve Carell & John Krasinski Crashed First Day Of Filming Spinoff

Sabrina Impacciatore is one of the stars of The Paper and revealed that The Office stars Steve Carell and John Krasinski crashed the show’s set on the first day of filming to wish them good luck.

In a new interview, the White Lotus alum recalled the day Carell and Krasinski visited the show’s set.

“No makeup yet. We are very anxious. Like, oh my God, we’re so scared. And then we hear, knock, knock,” Impacciatore told Entertainment Weekly. “Someone enters the trailer, and it’s Steve Carell and John Krasinski! We’re fainting. Like, what? Can you imagine? Isn’t it crazy? The first day of shooting!”

Impacciatore noted that Carell and Krasinski were at the studio filming a commercial for Italian coffee brand Lavazza, with the Italian star adding, “I thought, this is a blessing. Italian coffee, which is the coffee that I’ve been drinking all my life.”

Before joining The Paper, Impacciatore binged The Office U.S. and said that “Steve Carell became someone that I loved.” Impacciatore’s admiration for Carell was so immense that she booked a flight from her native Rome to New York to see the actor in Broadway’s Uncle Vanya.

Impacciatore asked The Office U.S. creator Greg Daniels to give Carell a message who told her he was in the city.

“I went to see the show. I went to the green room. I waited for him. He came out. I was shaking. I said, ‘I’m Sabrina! Can you bless me?’ I needed his blessing [for The Paper]!” Impacciatore recalled of her first encounter with Carell. “He was the sweetest. He was so warm. He was encouraging me so much. He said, ‘These people are brilliant. You are going to have the best experience of your life. You’re going to be great.’ He was giving me confidence. I will never forget that. Never. It was so right to do that.”

The Paper is a mockumentary from Greg Daniels and Michael Koman set in the same universe as NBC’s Emmy Award-winning hit series The Office, and features the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch. The crew is searching for a new subject when they stumble upon a historic Toledo newspaper, The Truth Teller, and the publisher’s efforts to revive it.

The series stars Domhnall Gleeson, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts will guest star.
