The Minnesota Vikings are in the market for a wide receiver thanks to Jordan Addison’s suspension and a sudden rash of injuries to their receiving corps, as both Justin Jefferson and Jalen Nailor are nursing individual maladies.
While the free-agent crop is basically down to nothing at this point, the Vikings do have the opportunity to explore trades, and they have been attempting to swing a deal with the Carolina Panthers to reunite with Adam Thielen.

However, Minnesota’s discussions with the Panthers appear to have hit a roadblock, as the two teams are struggling to agree on compensation, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Vikings and Panthers have tried to work out a trade for Carolina WR Adam Thielen, who would like to return to Minnesota, but the two sides continue to struggle to agree on compensation. https://t.co/LDyEQ3qTKh

Thielen is entering the final year of his contract and even contemplated retirement following the 2024 campaign, so it’s entirely possible that the Vikings would have the 35-year-old for just one season if they did acquire him.
For that reason, you can understand why Minnesota may be a bit hesitant to part with decent draft capital for the veteran. On the other side of the coin, though, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has become very comfortable with Thielen, so Carolina isn’t just going to give him away.
Thielen missed seven games last season due to injury, but during his time on the field, he was productive, catching 48 passes for 615 yards and five touchdowns. He is also just two years removed from a 1,000-yard campaign.

The Minnesota State product spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Vikings between 2014 and 2022, making back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances between 2017 and 2018. The latter campaign represents the best year of his NFL tenure, as he hauled in 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine scores.
When healthy, Minnesota already has a loaded receiving corps. Adding Thielen into the mix would make the Vikings just that much scarier offensively. Of course, that also depends on how J.J. McCarthy looks in his first year under center.
