Lil Nas X, who was arrested last week after he was spotted wandering naked on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, was charged Monday with four felony counts.
The Grammy-winning “Old Town Road” rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, is facing three felony counts of battery with injury against a police officer and a single count of resisting an executive officer (a cop), according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
He’s scheduled to be arraigned today at the Van Nuys courthouse. He has been held without bail since his arrest at Valley Jail in Van Nuys.
Lil Nas X was taken into custody at 5:50 a.m. Thursday.
“Upon arrival the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody, Los Angeles Police Officer Charles Miller told Deadline. “He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.” He later was booked after being released from the hospital.
In video posted by TMZ, Lil Nas X is seen singing and strutting down the street wearing only white underwear and white cowboy boots, telling a bystander, “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight” and “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down.” At one point in the video, he was completely naked.
News of his arrest and video went viral, with many fans expressing concern and sending well-wishes on social media.
“Pray for him instead of laughing,” a user shared under @TheShadeRoom’s post about the incident.
Another added, “He’s clearly not okay… he needs help, NOT JAIL.”
In April, Lil Nas X revealed he had been hospitalized with a mysterious case of partial facial paralysis.
Lil Nas X rose to fame with the release of his country rap song “Old Town Road,” which held the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks and was the top single of 2019.
