A marijuana dispensary on the famed Sunset Strip has yet again fallen victim to a burglary.
Officials from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station confirmed to KTLA that deputies responded to a call about the glass storefront of a dispensary being shattered at 4:34 a.m. Monday at Urbn Leaf West Hollywood Cannabis Dispensary, located in the 8400 block of West Sunset Boulevard.
“Unknown suspects broke the front window to gain access,” said Lt. Turner of the West Hollywood Station. “Nothing appeared to be stolen and a burglary report was taken.”
Lt. Turner added that deputies have been dispatched to the location at least three times this year alone, and the store’s manager told KTLA that break-ins happen “every three or four months.”
The manager also noted is the “sixth or seventh” break-in the business has sustained; KTLA has previously covered incidents at the same location, including one that took place more than two years ago.
There has been an uptick in dispensary burglaries over recent months in the L.A. area; another West Hollywood pot shop – The Woods WeHo, which is co-owned by comedian Bill Maher and actor Woody Harrelson – was hit by smash-and-grab burglars this past May. Just four days earlier, a security guard at a dispensary in West L.A.’s Sawtelle neighborhood opened fire at a group of masked suspects armed with crowbars.
A month prior to those two incidents, burglars targeted a North Hollywood dispensary, stealing cash and products.
