With a little over a week before the regular season gets underway, the Dallas Cowboys remain as the last team still addressing a player’s holdout. Despite how messy things have been for the last month, one member of the organization isn’t fazed by the situation.

Dating back to March, the Cowboys have been at odds with Micah Parsons regarding a contract extension. Now, with their Week 1 showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles just around the corner, things are still unresolved. Given that there’s been little to no advancements in talks, it looks as though there is no end in sight.

The longer this saga has dragged on, the more it has weighed on Parsons. His frustrations hit a boiling point on August 1st, when he unleashed a tell-all message on social media. Along with documenting everything from his point of view, he also informed the world of his trade request.

Between the off-field drama and his lingering back injury, it’s unclear if Parsons will be in uniform come September 4th.

In the midst of this dragged-out affair, many have lost faith in a resolution coming about. Given all the public jabs from both sides, the consensus is that a divorce is the most likely outcome.

That said, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has a much different outlook.

While speaking with the media after practice on Monday, Prescott gave his thoughts regarding his disgruntled teammate. He is remaining positive that the All-Pro linebacker will be on the field when Dallas squares off against the reigning champions next week.

“I’ve got confidence,” Prescott said, per ESPN. “I told y’all that way back when. And I’m just going off of experience honestly. No different than mine. I’ve got confidence in that. Just hoping, which I know he is, that he’s ready to play.”

Seeing that elongated contract talks have become par for the course for the Cowboys, Prescott also believes this ordeal hasn’t been a distraction.

“There’s been a case of something similar to this the last three years, I believe, if not before,” Prescott said. “Not necessarily. I think that people can take it however they want. I think it’s kind of part of the way guys think and see things around here.”

Only time will tell how Parsons plans to move forward if things aren’t rectified in these final days before the action officially gets underway.
