Cambridge Audio’s Melomania P100 headphones were a surprise hit last year – as well as being the first-ever over-ear set from the heritage hi-fi brand, they packed a host of features not usually found in the sub-$300 price range.

Now, the British hi-fi brand has dropped an updated, special edition version it describes as being more comfortable and says has “more dynamic sound.” And – for the first time – it’s offering the headphones in all-new blue colorway, alongside the returning original black and white options.

The new Melomania P100 SE headphones retain all of the premium features found in the original Melomania P100, including a massive 100-hour battery life (that still sets them apart from most headphones on the market), multipoint connectivity, hi-res audio playback and more. They also feature the same three-layer 40mm drivers custom-built with neodymium magnets, though the brand says these have been “meticulously retuned” and now deliver a more dynamic sound at “greater listening volumes.”

As well the updates made to improve sound, Cambridge Audio has focused on increasing the comfort levels of its new model and the special edition headphones arrive with a newly improved “luxuriously cushioned” headband – one the brand says is “designed for boundless listening” and provides even better comfort during longer listening sessions. Additionally, the P100 SE includes the brand’s proprietary DynamEQ technology that it says helps to “keep music perfectly balanced” at all volume levels – even at low volumes, typically susceptible to losing sound detail.

Complimenting the new headphones, the brand has also updated its Melomania Connect on both iOS and Android, which now allow users to “shape the sound” of their favourite genres via six presets.

The Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE headphones are available via the brand’s website priced at £249 GBP / €279 EUR / $299 USD.
