The New York Yankees are 34-38 since the start of June, and their struggles have not shown many signs of coming to an end.
The Yankees enter Sunday in a position to be a wild-card team. However, their struggles have led to many fans calling for Aaron Boone to be replaced before his contract expires after the 2027 season.
While there are no indications from the team that they are looking to move on from Boone, there are many intriguing candidates for fans to think about. One name being floated is Jorge Posada.
“During his playing days, Posada was known for going out there every night with an edge — a simmering intensity at all times ready to boil over. It was this quality, along with spectacular baseball talent, that made him an integral part of the last Yankees dynasty,” wrote FanSided’s Stephen Parello. “Apart from his fiery disposition, there’s another reason why Posada might make a great manager. Many of the game’s greats, such as Joe Torre, Jim Leyland, Mike Scioscia and Bruce Bochy, among many others, were catchers during their playing days, just like Posada.”
Posada was a four-time World Series champion, five-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger in his 17-year career with the Yankees. He was a key player with the team. He hit 275 career home runs with the Yankees.
Posada was a Yankees legend and could be a great option to replace Boone if the team decides to move on from him.
