HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The last week of meteorological summer is forecast to end on the cooler side. If you are a fan of fall-like temperatures, you’ll be a fan of the weather pattern for this week.
A cold front will track through the region on Sunday evening, ushering in cooler air. Along with the cooler air, a northerly wind will filter in drier air, allowing for comfortable conditions this week.
An area of high pressure will build behind the frontal passage, helping to keep the drier air in place. Drier air will lead to lower dew point values, which in turn means a break from the humidity.
The week looks to be mainly quiet with a mix of sun and clouds. A weak disturbance will track through the region on Tuesday, supporting the chances for isolated showers in Northwest Alabama.
Fall-Like Temperatures:
Heading into the upcoming week, temperatures will be nearly 10-12 degrees below normal for this time of year. Highs Monday through Thursday are forecast to range from the upper 70s to the low 80s. Tuesday’s high in Huntsville is forecast to reach 78 degrees, which will be two degrees shy of the record-low maximum temperature.
Waking up on Wednesday and Thursday morning, you’ll need the sweatshirt handy with lows forecast to fall into the 50s! This will be the coolest mornings since May and normal lows for late September.
