When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Skyy Moore in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, some felt they had found their replacement for Tyreek Hill.
After all, Moore possessed a similar build to Hill and had similar explosive downfield speed. Perhaps he was Patrick Mahomes’ next vertical threat?

Of course, things did not exactly pan out for Moore in Kansas City. He managed just 43 catches for 494 yards and a lone touchdown in three seasons with the Chiefs, most recently going without a catch in six games last year.
Kansas City traded him to the San Francisco 49ers last week, and now, the 24-year-old will get a fresh start with the team that his Chiefs defeated in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
Moore could get an early opportunity to play in San Francisco due to the amount of injuries that have befallen the 49ers, and he seems excited about the change of scenery. He instantly found himself feeling comfortable in the Bay, noting how similar the locker room feel is to what he experienced in Kansas City.
“When I first walked in, it gave me a similar feeling to when I walked into Kansas City,” Moore told reporters (h/t 49ers Webzone). “It’s another great program. They do a lot of great things just like Kansas City. It felt similar just walking into a locker room with a lot of established guys, a lot of established coaches. Hopefully we can go get that Super Bowl.”

The 49ers’ wide receiver room consists of talents such as Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall, but both Aiyuk and Jennings are nursing injuries. Aiyuk is recovering from a torn ACL, and Jennings is dealing with a calf issue. San Francisco has some other injuries in its receiving corps, as well.
It’s entirely possible that Moore may finally get the chance he has been waiting for with the Niners. Whether or not he takes advantage of it remains to be seen.
