Hysterics at Unfiltered Questions 6-Year-Old Asks His Mom: ‘I’m Not OK’

A 6-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, is going viral for the brutally honest questions he asked his mom in the past week.

Jamee Biscoe (@jaybiscoe) posted a clip on TikTok rattling off the list of questions, including, “Why are you always going to work but you’ll never have no money?”, “Why are you dying your hair? Aren’t old people supposed to have gray hairs?” and “How do you know I’m not dreaming right now?”

Biscoe, a single mother, told Newsweek that something shifted the moment her son, Hayden, turned 6.

“Six really does feel like a turning point,” the 31-year-old said. “The sweet toddler innocence is still there, but there’s also this burst of independence and personality. It’s like overnight he went from a little kid to having these very big opinions, witty comebacks, and no hesitation in sharing them.”

Sometimes, those big opinions cut straight to the heart. When Hayden recently asked, “Why are you always at work but never have any money?”, Biscoe said she couldn’t help but laugh.

“I told him, ‘I wonder that myself every morning, but then I remember all my money goes to YOU!’” she added.

“There’s no sugarcoating, no filter, just straight honesty,” Biscoe said. “Sometimes, it’s hilarious; sometimes, it’s humbling; but it’s always real.”

That bluntness is what Biscoe called the “no-filter phase” of being 6. In her caption, she wrote: “I am not OK.”

“At 6, kids have enough vocabulary and awareness to express themselves clearly, but they haven’t yet learned to edit their thoughts,” she said.

Biscoe added: “So, whatever they think, they say. It’s raw honesty, which can be both refreshing and a little brutal. They’ll tell you if your outfit looks weird, if your cooking missed the mark, or if you have a little more chin hair than usual.”

Biscoe’s clip has more than 3.9 million views and over 691,000 likes. Many other users agreed that Hayden’s questions were valid in the comments.

“U met ur match mama,” one user wrote.

“That first question always hits hard,” another added.

Biscoe said that many other parents could relate and have also experienced a barrage of questions from their inquisitive children.

“It turned into this really fun, relatable conversation where moms and dads shared their own unfiltered kid stories,” she added. “I think that’s the beauty of TikTok—finding humor in those everyday parenting moments we all go through.”

Despite the exhausting questions, Biscoe described Hayden as “funny, bold and full of energy,” adding that he balances his comedy with unexpected sweetness.

“He’ll crack a joke one minute, and the next he’ll surprise me with how thoughtful and observant he is,” Biscoe said. “He definitely keeps me on my toes, but he also teaches me so much. He is truly my little best friend.”
