With their final preseason game in the books, the Dallas Cowboys can officially start looking towards the regular season. Ahead of their first official game, all eyes remain on star linebacker Micah Parsons.
Parsons has been a major topic of discussion in the NFL in recent weeks as he remains at odds with the organization. The two sides still don’t appear close on a contract extension, but one analyst is now confident that things will work themselves out.
Although he’s remained around the team, Parsons has been rather quiet since his jaw dropping social media post earlier this month. He’s also yet to see the field, as he continues to deal with back tightness ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Stephen A. Smith has new outlook on the Cowboys’ saga with Micah Parsons
This week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sat down with Stephen A. Smith in what has been a bit of a press run for him lately. The two dove into a wide range of topics, including the ongoing ordeal with Parsons.
Earlier this month, Stephen A. felt the Cowboys were on track for a messy divorce with the All-Pro linebacker. However, he is now singing a much different tune. During Friday’s installment of First Take, Stephen A. made the shocking prediction that Parsons will end up inking a long-term deal in Dallas.
“For me, it’s at a standstill right now. I ultimately believe they will reach an accord,” Stephen A. said. “Because I think that Micah, I think he’s gonna get his money. I think that Jerry is being as stubborn as he always has been. As counterproductive as he always has been when it comes to signing contracts a little bit later than they should have been signed because you’re compromising your cap.”

Early on, this saga drew a lot of similarities to the Cowboys’ dragged-out affairs with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. However, it’s taken a much different turn over the past month. Parsons has grown increasingly frustrated with the front office’s actions, and his trade request is still on the table.
In the end, the Cowboys have ponied up sizable extensions with their homegrown stars. Following this messy saga, only time will tell if they will do the same for Parsons or if this standoff will carry into the season.
