While exiting the driver’s seat of his car on Friday night, a man in his mid-30s was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in Reseda, authorities said.
It happened around 8:05 p.m. on Victory Boulevard, west of Belmar Avenue, according to LAPD Valley Traffic Detectives.
Investigators said the victim had just stepped out of his parked vehicle when a black compact SUV traveling westbound on Victory veered right and hit him. The SUV continued west on Victory and turned north on Corbin Avenue without stopping.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
There was no suspect description available on Saturday morning. Detectives are urging anyone who was in the area of Victory Boulevard and Belmar Avenue around 8:05 p.m. to come forward with information.
The city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program offers up to $50,000 for information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension and conviction, or resolution through a civil compromise.
Motorists are reminded to stop after a collision, call for help and remain at the scene to identify themselves, as required by law.
