Liza Colón-Zayas, John Leguizamo, Benjamin Bratt and more were among the honorees at the 40th Imagen Awards, which celebrates Latino talent across film, television and streaming.

Celebrating Hollywood’s most recognizable Latino entertainers, directors and writers, this year’s event awarded stellar performances and contributions in 27 categories. Notable awardees include Barbie Ferreira, Fede Álvarez, Sofia Carson and Sasha Calle, with recognized projects comprising Bob Trevino Likes It, Alien: Romulus, On Swift Horses, The Last of Us and Acapulco.

The Imagen President’s Award was presented to internationally renowned composer and music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Gustavo Dudamel, in recognition of his musical contributions and role in inspiring the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles. Established in 2007, YOLA provides free instruments, music training and academic support to students ages 6 to 18 from low-income communities.

Writer, producer and showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez — best known for her work on Ugly Betty, The Glades, Queen of the South and most recently as executive producer and co-showrunner of Netflix’s hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer — received the organization’s Norman Lear Writer’s Award, named in honor of the legendary TV producer and Imagen co-founder.

The evening’s program is scheduled to air on PBS during Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. PT.

Established in 1985 from a suggestion by Lear to encourage and recognize positive portrayals of Latinos in media, the awards ceremony has since expanded via The Imagen Foundation programs and initiatives to further its mission in providing access, education and resources for Latinos in the entertainment industry.
