Cardinals Could Swing Ridiculous Trade for Future Hall of Fame Wide Receiver

The Arizona Cardinals have some hope for the future thanks to talented young wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., as well as 25-year-old Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride. But their hopes of being truly competitive this season seem just about slim to none.

Many are predicting they will finish last in an NFC West division that has plenty of parity. There is even some doubt about the future of quarterback Kyler Murray with the team — in fact, one ESPN writer recently predicted that Arizona will trade Murray within two years.

One thing Arizona could do right now to increase its chances of reaching the NFL playoffs — not to mention make life easier on Murray — is try to swing a trade for an experienced star wide receiver. Alex Kay of Bleacher Report wrote that the team should send a 2026 second-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins for Tyreek Hill.

“The Arizona Cardinals are shaping up to be a sneaky contender this season, but their passing attack could still use a major boost,” Kay wrote.

“Marvin Harrison Jr. projects to be the receiving corps’ anchor for the foreseeable future, but his middling rookie performance and lack of supporting cast is troubling. Rather than rely on Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch to play major roles in 2025, the Cardinals should swing for the fences with Tyreek Hill.”

Hill is a sure-fire Hall of Famer, and he has been one of the game’s biggest speed demons in recent years. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons in the league, and in 2023, he was flirting with the first 2,000-yard season by a receiver until he coasted and finished with a league-high 1,799.

He suggested that he wanted the Dolphins to trade him at the end of last season. If he truly wants to leave, perhaps a change of scenery would do him some good.

“Hill has had his share of issues in recent seasons with the Dolphins—including quitting on the team at the end of last season—but he’s a generational talent who has only missed the Pro Bowl and playoffs once in his nine-year career,” Kay continued.

“His presence would unlock Kyler Murray’s potential in an offense that could rate among the league’s best with Hill in place.”

There is some risk involved here, however. Hill saw his production drop sharply last year, and his 56.4 receiving yards per game was his lowest since his rookie year in 2016. It was also the only year of his career so far in which he didn’t make it to the Pro Bowl.

But if he’s healthy, he could represent a worthwhile risk for a Cardinals franchise that has made the playoffs once in the last nine seasons and has won a total of two playoff games since that heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl XLIII in February 2009.
