The Atlanta Falcons are weighing all their options here.

They are facing a tough decision after not extending former top 5 pick Kyle Pitts. Pitts, who once was one of the NFL‘s brightest young tight ends, after his rookie season could potentially be on his way out the door in Atlanta.

After injuries and inconsistency slowed his development in recent years. The Falcons are playing it by the ear and could explore a trade that sends Pitts to the Carolina Panthers, giving the team a fresh start and a chance to play with a franchise quarterback in Bryce Young and rejuvenate his young career.

Carolina bringing Pitts on board will add to the collection of talent that is at disposable for the offense.

For the Falcons, moving Pitts could be used to bolster the roster in areas of need as their offense already has a lot of play makers like running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London.

This move would also recalibrate an offense that hasn’t fully clicked around Pitts. It’s a scenario that could benefit both sides. The Panthers gain a proven red-zone weapon for Young, and Atlanta gains flexibility and draft capital.

Pitts hasn’t matched the heights of his rookie campaign, but has shown flashes here and there that his talent remains. Atlanta’s front office now faces an important crossroads as can they trust their new era in their offense and franchise with Micheal Penix Jr. without one of their biggest early investments, any maybe moving him is the smartest path forward.

A trade could give Pitts a second chance and find new life to return to form and make an immediate impact in Carolina, while the Falcons reset their struggling offense for the future as a chance to reset the mistakes that could have been made.

Either way, it’s a pivotal moment that could shape the trajectory of both teams for the 2025 season and beyond.
