Serena Williams may not be playing in the 2025 US Open, but she still knows how to serve in activewear.
On August 21, the 23-time Grand Slam champion upgraded your every-day airport ‘fit by pairing her simple gray tank top with matching sweatpants with a subtle pinstripe, further elevating the look with a pair of metallic stilettos. She finished everything off with a black leather wristwatch and silver jewelry while holding on tight to the last few weeks of summer with a bright, colorful manicure.
In multiple other photos taken during her recent outing, the retired tennis star added a blue baseball cap with a transparent massage: “I’m on ro.”
Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company that provides her GLP-1 medication for weight loss. In a People interview published that very same day, the tennis star opened up about her struggles to lose weight after giving birth to two daughters, which led to joint pain and other health issues.
“I never was able to get to the weight I needed to be no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained,” Williams told the publication. “It was crazy because I’d never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard, ate so healthy and could never get down to where I needed to be at.”
She continued, “I had never taken shortcuts in my career and always worked really hard. I know what it takes to be the best. So it was very frustrating to do all the same things and never be able to change that number on the scale or the way my body looked.”
Now, the Ro ambassador says she feels “really good and healthy” after losing 31 lbs with the help of a GLP-1 medication and exercise, while clarifying that she didn’t feel “pressure to maintain a certain appearance.”
“Weight loss should never really change your self image,” she said. “Women often experience judgment about their bodies at any size, and I’m no stranger to that. So I feel like you should love yourself at any size and any look.”
That’s the same message she sends to Olympia and Adira, telling People, “With me going through what I’ve went through growing up in public and just having millions of people commenting on my body, it’s really important to teach them to be confident at any size, just like I try to be.”
