The pop star Lil Nas X was arrested on Thursday morning and was being held at a jail in Los Angeles, according to county inmate records.

The musician, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested after he ran at officers who had been responding to calls about a naked man on Ventura Boulevard, one of the city’s main streets, Rosario Cervantes, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said in a statement.

The 26-year-old artist was briefly taken to the hospital for a suspected overdose, but was discharged and taken to jail a few hours later, Ms. Rosario said. She did not provide additional information about Mr. Hill’s condition.

Mr. Hill was booked on the misdemeanor of obstructing an officer and was being held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff records.

Video published by the celebrity news site TMZ appeared to show Mr. Hill walking down Ventura Boulevard at around 4 a.m. Thursday, wearing only underwear and cowboy boots. The footage, which The New York Times could not independently verify, appears to show Mr. Hill strutting, posing and singing as he walks. In the audio, the man can be heard referring several times to a party.

Representatives for Mr. Hill did not immediately respond on Friday to a request for comment.

Mr. Hill rose to fame in 2018 after releasing the single “Old Town Road,” which won two Grammys and recorded the longest ever run as Billboard’s No. 1 song. He released his first studio album, “Montero,” in 2021, and his upcoming album, “Dreamboy,” is set to be released later this year.
