(The Hill) — White House principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields is leaving his post for GOP lobbying and public affairs firm CGCN, marking one of the first major departures of President Donald Trump’s second term.

Fields’ last day at the White House is Friday, he shared on social media, calling his role in the Trump administration “the honor of a lifetime” and thanking his colleagues on the press team.

“Tomorrow, I leave with a full heart, immense appreciation, and faith in the work still ahead. Thank you,” he wrote on social platform X on Thursday morning.

Fields also highlighted online the work of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

“It’s been the honor of a lifetime serving alongside my friend, @karolineleavitt, as her Principal Deputy Press Secretary, for the most transparent and accessible President, who is making good on every promise made to the American people,” he said. “May God bless President Trump, the administration, and our great nation.”

Axios first reported on his departure.

Fields, who also served as special assistant to the president, worked on Trump’s 2024 campaign and was an assistant press secretary during the president’s first term. He is one of the most senior Black men working at the White House.

The outgoing deputy press secretary also worked for Rep. Bryon Donalds (R-Fla.), who is running for governor of Florida, from 2021 to 2024.
