A woman recalls the frightening moment she was knocked to the ground and robbed while walking in Beverly Hills.
Camille Anderson, best known for hosting the show “Selling Mega Mansions,” said the incident happened while she was out with friends on a Saturday night.
“We decided to walk from a restaurant on Canon Drive to one that was just a few blocks away at 9 p.m. at night,” Anderson told KTLA’s Kimberly Cheng. “[It was] nothing out of the ordinary.
She and a friend were near Santa Monica Boulevard and Canon Drive when she said two men suddenly spotted them and approached.
“I could see someone in the alleyway,” Anderson recalled. “I didn’t think much of it and it happened so quickly. They lunged at me and tried to take my purse. I tensed up. It was just my natural reaction. And because they didn’t get the purse on the first attempt, the person slammed me to the ground. All I could think was to start screaming.”
After knocking her to the ground, the assailants entered a getaway car and sped off. Bystanders who saw the aftermath called 911.
“Police showed up quickly and took my statement,” Anderson said. “And, in what felt like under 10 minutes, police caught who they thought were the suspects.”
The suspects were identified as:
- Vlad Oganisyan, 23
- Razmik Papikyan, 25
- Grigoryan Vahagn, 45
Anderson’s purse was also found in their getaway car. She believes the robbery may have been a crime of opportunity, but also questions if someone had been watching her beforehand.
“I do think they possibly had a lookout, whether they were across the street or near the restaurant where we dined,” she said. “Maybe someone kept an eye on us. I don’t think it was about me in particular, but just the fact that I had a nice purse on and a watch.”
Anderson said the attack left her with cuts and bruises, but she is grateful she wasn’t seriously injured.
“Luckily, I’m gonna heal,” she said. “I’ll be okay. I just think it’s important to talk about it so people are aware.”
She hopes that by sharing her story, it’ll remind others to be on alert and to protect themselves by not carrying luxury handbags, flashy jewelry or things that could make them a target when walking around in public.
The suspects could face charges related to robbery and conspiracy. They were released on bond as the incident remains under investigation by Beverly Hills police.
