PHOENIX — Finding volunteer opportunities in Scottsdale just became easier thanks to a new platform from Blue Zones Project Scottsdale.

The nonprofit launched a new online platform called Volunteer Zone, which allows people to find personalized volunteer opportunities within the city.

People can use it to find postings from nonprofits, schools, civic groups and other organizations, according to Maureen Aldrich, the project’s engagement and marketing lead.

“The Volunteer Zone helps make both more accessible by making it easier for residents and employees to find the right fit — and for organizations to extend their reach,” Aldrich said in a recent announcement.

How does Volunteer Zone help you find ways to give back in Scottsdale?

The new platform makes it easy for organizations to list their needs for volunteers. Meanwhile, those looking for ways to give back can filter their search by age group, time commitment, interest or skillset.

Any Scottsdale organization, nonprofit school or community group can sign up and start listing ways they need help. They don’t have to be affiliated with the Blue Zones Project to find help through Volunteer Zone.

“Creating stronger social connections and a sense of purpose are two key elements of a longer, healthier life,” Aldrich said.

Other volunteer opportunities in metro Phoenix, beyond

Those who want to give back in other ways — or outside the city of Scottsdale — have various opportunities. For instance:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona needs more volunteers to help Valley kids.
  • Arizona’s court system is in dire need of volunteers to help children in foster care.
  • Adopt a Highway program volunteers are essential for removing litter from Arizona highways.

There are also various nonprofits addressing the homelessness crisis in Arizona that need volunteers and donations.
