A man was found shot to death near a softball field in Bellflower on Monday night, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a call came in around 9:16 p.m. reporting a gunshot victim down in the 14000 block of Bellflower Boulevard.

Deputies, homicide investigators and paramedics arrived at the area to find an unidentified man lying unconscious near T. Mayne Thompson Park. Authorities pronounced the victim, only identified as a male adult, dead at the scene.

T. Mayne Thompson Park, according to Google Maps, is a municipal park featuring indoor and outdoor pools for year-round swimming, a gym, playground and softball fields.

Footage from the scene showed caution tape surrounding a large portion of a softball field at the park, with multiple LASD units stationed around the perimeter.

Details are limited; LASD did not say whether any arrests have been made, and a suspect description was not provided.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

To provide information anonymously, call “Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit the website lacrimestoppers.org.

Nancy Fontan contributed to this report.
