What a difference a day bag makes! Lily Collins is currently in Italy shooting the next season of Emily in Paris (Emily’s in Italy now, keep up), and looking fabulous as usual on set. As the titular American in the series, Collins is always dressed in something bold and bright, and in recent pics from the set, she rocks a white skirt and crop top with large black polka dots, her hair slicked back into a low pony. Mesh Mary-Jane flats allow her to navigate the city’s stone streets, while her door knocker earrings give her a bit of edge. But it’s the bag we’re here to talk about. Or should we say bags…

Filming on a bridge over one of the city’s iconic canals, we see Lily/Emily holding the Marina Bag ($795) from L’Alingi; the limited edition raffia style is currently sold out online, but this one shaped like a seashell is available for like half the price, soooooo. The bag suits the outfit’s breezy summer vibe, the character’s quirky style and personality, and looks perfect for a day of running around the city getting into romantic trouble.

Now, compare that to this picture taken between scenes, when Lily Collins, still in costume, is carrying her personal Balenciaga Le City bag. It completely transforms the look from cutesy to city chic. This is the difference a simple accessory can make, and why a person can never have too many bags.

And to be clear, Collins herself has a completely different style take on the bag. She stepped out in a totally balanced, layered ensemble earlier this summer that included the bag, and when she’s not in Emily in Paris mode, she’s got her own minimalist, sporty vibe. Or in any case, her stylist does a great job. Either way, she looks great.
