Jason Isaacs’ character Timothy Ratliff survived the twists and turns of “The White Lotus” Season 3 and came out of it with his first Emmy nomination.
He revealed just what he was doing when he learned of the nod.
“I wish I had a better story, (but) I was ordering parts for my fridge,” he explained to KTLA 5’s Andy Riesmeyer. “I came up on the laptop, and I went, and I dismissed it and I went, ‘I think I had my name on it, actually.’ I went back, and I went, ‘Oh, I’ve got an Emmy nomination. Oh! I’ve got five seconds to put the order in.”
Yes, the “Harry Potter” actor works on his own fridge.
“I fix things around the house based on what I find on YouTube, and I come back after a trip somewhere, and they’re better. I wonder, is my wife calling people after I fix the things to fix the things I fixed?” he joked.
When it comes to the nomination, Isaacs enjoys that he gets to experience it with his castmates. The show received 23 nominations altogether. Isaacs is nominated for best supporting actor in a drama series.
“Half the cast have been nominated, and it’s because Mike White is an incredible storyteller. One of the lovely things is that it’s made people, some people left on the planet hadn’t seen the show yet, amazingly, and it’s driving people to watch it on streaming, which is lovely well.”
Isaacs proudly sported a Duke T-shirt during his appearance on the KTLA 5 Morning News on Monday, paying homage to his “White Lotus” character’s alma mater.
“People from North Carolina and from Duke are constantly sending me, giving me Duke merch,” he said.
Rightfully so, as the English actor’s portrayal of the privileged North Carolina businessman is spot-on. While he can do a variety of accents, he credits the praise on this role to the show’s costume designer and White, the show’s creator.
