Kate Middleton and Prince William’s new family mansion reportedly forced two families to move out of their nearby homes.

The royal couple and their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — are planning to live in Fort Lodge, an eight-bedroom mansion in Windsor Great Park that will be their “forever home,” the Daily Mail reported Sunday.

Because of this, two separate families who lived in cottages next to the mansion were asked to vacate their properties earlier this summer, according to the report.

“They were told to move out. I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move,” a source claimed to the outlet. “They were not expecting it.”

“Those houses are very close to the lodge, so they’re not going to want any Tom, Dick or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there,” the source added.

According to the report, the families were tenants of the Crown Estate. They weren’t given eviction notices and they have since moved to similar or better housing elsewhere in the area.

William and Kate, both 43, are hoping for “a fresh start” at Fort Lodge and are paying for the move at no extra cost to taxpayers, per the report.

Reps for the royals didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The royal family currently resides at Adelaide Cottage, located near Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England. They moved there in 2022 to be close to the children’s Lambrook School.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will make the move to their new home later this year, a spokesperson confirmed to Page Six on Saturday.

The Sun reported that Fort Lodge is worth approximately $21 million, and that the family was looking for a new environment after Kate’s cancer battle made for a rough couple of years at Adelaide Cottage.

“Windsor has become their home,” a source told the outlet of William and Kate’s reasoning for wanting to stay in the same neighborhood.

“However, over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage there have been some really difficult times,” the insider continued.

While visiting Colchester Hospital last month, the Princess of Wales described the “really, really difficult” period of her life during her cancer battle and said she’s “not able to function normally” after treatment.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she shared. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually [that’s not the case].”
