The MLB Little League Classic takes place at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field and was first held in 2017. The Mets competed in the 2018 game, while the Mariners are set to play in the event for the first time.
This is the final game of a three-game series between these teams, with the Mets hosting the first two games. On Friday night, Seattle won an exciting contest by an 11-9 score, fueled by a huge five-run seventh inning.
Then on Saturday, the Mets bounced back with a 3-1 win in the second game of the series. Francisco Lindor hit an RBI double in the third inning for the Mets to put the team on the board, bringing Brett Baty in to score. Baty also scored the team’s second run, coming home on a Juan Soto sacrifice fly. Pete Alonso then hit an RBI double later in the inning to put the Mets up 3-0. Seattle got a solo homer in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to seriously threaten the Mets.
