Due to all their off-field drama this season, the Washington Commanders’ offense has some major question marks. Amid recent reports, change could be in the air for the roster ahead of the 2025 campaign.
For the last few weeks, the ongoing saga with Terry McLaurin has been the major talking point for the Commanders. There is now a fresh storyline to monitor moving forward, as GM Adam Peters is still eyeing avenues to improve the roster.
Along with their wide receiver core, the Commanders’ backfield could look different when Washington takes the field in Week 1.

Washington Commanders are reportedly shopping running back Brian Robinson Jr.
One of the key reasons for Terry McLaurin’s hold-in is the fact that he is currently playing on an expiring contract. Another player entering the final year of their deal is running back Brian Robinson Jr. However, he could be suffering a much different fate in the near future.
On Sunday evening, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Commanders are taking trade calls for the veteran RB.
#Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. has been highly productive through his first three seasons — rushing for 2,300+ yards and scoring 20 TDs, all while coming back from being shot before his rookie year.Washington likes its RB depth, but Robinson is available for the right price. https://t.co/8HWJRYaBhq

Robinson, 26, joined the Commanders back in 2022 after being drafted in the third round. He went on to become a shocking success story following a tragic incident in Washington D.C.
Robinson was the victim of a carjacking and was shot by his assailants in the process.
He would end up needing surgery, but managed to make a full recovery. Despite this horrific series of events, he didn’t let it stop him from debuting for the Commanders in his rookie year. Just six weeks after the shooting, he took the field for Washington.

After overcoming the odds, Robinson has managed to be a productive piece for the Commanders. He’s proven to be a threat on the ground and in the air, totaling over 1,100 scrimmage yards in 2023.
Through his first three seasons, Robinson has rushed for 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns. Now, he could potentially be undergoing a change of scenery as he gears up for year four in the NFL.
Armed with an array of running backs, Washington could part with Robinson in hopes of improving in other areas. In the event he is traded, Austin Ekeler will likely emerge as the every-down back for the Commanders.
Between his age and versatile skill set, Robinson is certainly a player teams might be willing to take a flier on in the trade market.
