Coming off a disappointing Leagues Cup campaign, which saw it win just one of three matches and exit at the group stage, Minnesota fell short in a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids on Sunday. The Loons will try to avoid losing four in a row for the first time since June 2024, when they had a six-game streak of defeats and a nine-match winless run.
On the other end are the Sounders, who beat Austin FC in their final outing of June to kick off a 10-game unbeaten streak during which they have won seven times after Monday’s 4-0 thrashing of the MLS defending champion Los Angeles Galaxy.
The teams are ranked third and fourth in the Western Conference standings, with Minnesota holding a three-point advantage with 41 points. If Seattle wins, it could potentially move ahead in the standings.
Minnesota has struggled against the Sounders lately, coming out on top in just two of the 10 most recent meetings, which have also yielded seven defeats.
