A Victorville man was arrested Wednesday night for crashing his car while allegedly driving under the influence, resulting in two young passengers being ejected from his vehicle.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to reports of a crash around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Deputies and paramedics arrived at the crash site, located in the intersection of 1st Avenue and Ottawa Street, to find two unidentified 17-year-old girls on the edge of the road suffering from severe injuries. SBSD did not say whether the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Tremel Daniel McAuliffe of Victorville, was injured in the crash.

A preliminary investigation revealed McAuliffe was behind the wheel of a 2014 Buick Enclave, driving south on First Avenue, when he failed to stop at the Ottawa Street intersection and slammed into a secondary vehicle.

The two teenage girls — both passengers in McAuliffe’s car — were ejected upon impact, authorities said. Their conditions were not known as of Thursday morning, but SBSD said one of the victims was airlifted to a local trauma center. No injuries were reported from the second vehicle.

Deputies discovered McAuliffe was showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and arrested him for two felony DUIs causing bodily injuries. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center.

Authorities ask anyone with information on this crash to contact Deputy J. Tomasello or Deptuy C. Stanley at the Victorville Police Station, 760-241-2911. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78CRIME (27463) or leave information on the We-Tip website at www.wetip.com.
