EXCLUSIVE: Bickering couples are heading into Blue Therapy in Belgium.
Local streamer Streamz has ordered a local remake of the British format, which originated on YouTube. All3Media Belgium has adapted it as Koppels in Crisis, with relationship therapist Jess Donckers fronting the show.
The series sees four troubled couples undergo intensive therapeutic dialogs, in this case led by Donckers, and builds towards a critical, potentially life-changing juncture where the couples decide if they will reconcile or part ways.
The Belgian format deal had gone under the radar until today, which is also the same day the series launches. Osun Group‘s Luti Fagbenle and TrendCntrl‘s Andy Amadi, who created the format, are executive producers.
This marks a first international remake for Blue Therapy, which began life as a viral YouTube series from Amadi’s TrendCentrl in 2021. Fagbenle’s Osun Group then took the digital format, which had made waves as an explosive new reality format, to Channel 4’s younger-skewing network E4 in the UK as In Love & Toxic: Blue Therapy, and it then sold to the likes of BET in the U.S. and Prime Video across Africa as a finished program. Earlier this year, Netflix commissioned its own global version of the format. Osun Group made both versions.
The Belgian remake was set up through All3Media Belgium, whose stablemate All3Media International owns the international distribution rights. Osun Group (fka Luti Media) owns the underlying IP for the format.
