PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Two people from Hartselle were arrested on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop led to further investigations from authorities.

On Thursday at 12:30 a.m., Priceville Police pulled a vehicle over on the northbound 334 off-ramp of I-65.

Authorities identified the individuals inside the vehicle as Houston Brooks McElroy, 31, of Hartselle and Kara Elizabeth Boyles, 31, of Hartselle.

According to police, probable cause was established to conduct a narcotics field investigation after the traffic enforcement aspect of the stop.

Upon further investigation, officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Priceville Police told News 19 that a search warrant was then obtained and executed at a home located on May Road in Hartselle. The Morgan County Drug Enforcement Unit also assisted with the execution of the search warrant.

PPD said that the secondary investigation related to the traffic stop, uncovered additional quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, digital scales, and a firearm.

McElroy and Boyles were arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail. McElroy was charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Boyles was charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs.

“Thank you to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office for your assistance with this investigation,” said Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes.

A Morgan County Circuit Judge has set McElroy’s bond at $200,600 and Boyles’ bond at $200,000.
